The Agricultural Education Society will be very busy in the upcoming months. For those of you who are looking for opportunities to get involved, there should be plenty of chances. I am sorry this email is so lengthy, but this is a testament to the great things that this organization is doing.
First of all, I would like to remind everyone that we will be having a meeting this Thursday the 25th at the Good Barn at 6pm. Mr. Jamie Guffey with the KY Poultry Federation and Mrs. Amy Robinson with the Farm Credit Services Growing Forward Program will be speaking to us about their role in Agriculture Education from an Industry standpoint. Please come ready to listen and participate. Don't forget that this is a professional event, so dress accordingly. Afterwards anyone interested is invited to attend the races at Red Mile Racetrack (admission is $2)
Don't forget to pay your dues to one of the officers or to an advisor. Dues are $10 and will be required to attend certain functions throughout the year including National Convention.
If you are interested in a UK Ag Ed pullover, please come to our meeting on Thursday and/or stay tuned to emails and social media about ordering.
Prep for National Convention
In preparation for National FFA Convention, UK Ag Ed Society has hosted a National Convention Practice Night for many of the KY FFA competitors. This year we will be hosting the annual practice night on October 14th. This is a great opportunity for you to hone your knowledge of specific contest areas, all while serving as a constructive judge for the students who will be representing KY FFA on the National level.
In order to raise some money to offset some of the costs of attending National Convention, we will be putting together some Seed Identification Kits to take with us to sell at convention. We will be conducting this seed building night on Thursday October 16th at 5:30pm. If you can't be there at that time, we can still use your help. As an incentive for assisting with the construction of seed kits, Ag Ed Society will reimburse you $10 for the purchase of a professional name tag from the CAFE student council. I have attached the flyer for the name tag sale.
Alpha Tau Alpha Conclave
We will also be preparing ourselves for National Convention Competitions in the upcoming weeks.
We will be attending the National Convention and ATA Conclave on October 29-31st. If you are interested in going, you will need to see Dr. Epps or Dr. Vincent to pay the $65 registration cost. There are several opportunities for you to assist with and participate. Please let us know.
